Season Ends: 2nd in class, 11th in Overall NASA Northeast Points

The NASA Northeast racing season ended at New Jersey Motorsports Park with 2 DNF’s, however we still ended the season 2nd in the Super Unlimited class and 11th in overall points — 5 points out of the top 10.

The overall points total is slightly disappointing, however is a great showing for my rookie season. In the overall points category, I ended up missing or not finishing 3 races; the Pocono East event was never skipped because it was not supposed to be a points paying race, and the 2 DNF’s at NJMP were due to rain and getting wrecked. If I wasn’t taken out in that second NJMP race, I would have been top-10 in overall points.

As for in-class, there was no way I could have beat Tom Soriano unless he didn’t show up or finish a race. Both of his cars completely out horsepower mine and Tom’s significant experience and skill means he rarely makes mistakes or looses and race he participates in.

Excuses, excuses. . . . I know!

We hope to be more competitive in Super Unlimited next year. We’re returning with the same package but with a more powerful engine and a rain package. In addition, my Mach-1 teammate Mike Cohen (who ran SCCA national events this year) will run the full NASA schedule. With a year of racing experience under my belt and some slight improvements to the car, I’m hoping to collect a class or overall win in 2009.
